While Campbell legends suggest the “Camels” nickname is a hundred years older than this grumpy Fighting Camel that they debuted in 2004, it’s possible that the Monogram Club simply changed its nickname from “Hornets” to “Camels,” and the campus embraced the unique mascot. Campbell’s disdain for tobacco, money talks – the tobacco magnate’s donation may have brought the Fighting Camels to life.
